2. Gov Unit 2 (Branches of the National Government)

The focus of this unit is on the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.  Emphasis is placed on the powers and organization of the legislative branch and role of lobbyists and special interest groups in the legislative process. Students will understand organization and powers of the executive branch as well as the role of the president and the federal bureaucracy in administering policy. Students will examine the structure of the federal court system and its role in maintaining the balance of powers and protecting civil liberties.
